Frequently Asked Questions
General
-
Yes. Private healthcare providers in England can be regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care.
Shropshire Health has been CQC registered and regulated since May 2025, giving our patients additional reassurance that we meet the required standards for safe, effective and well-led care.
Our clinical team members are appropriately qualified, experienced and trained within their areas of expertise. We are committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care in a safe, professional environment.
Your safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
-
Private healthcare can offer patients greater choice and flexibility in how and when they access care. Depending on the service, benefits may include:
Shorter waiting times – appointments may be available sooner than through NHS services, depending on availability.
Longer appointments – more time can be available to discuss your concerns, ask questions and explore your individual needs.
Greater flexibility – a wider choice of appointment times, including appointments outside traditional GP hours for some services.
Access to additional services – private clinics may offer investigations, treatments and specialist services that are not routinely available through NHS general practice.
Personalised care – appointments are focused on you and your individual circumstances, with time to develop a care plan that is right for you.
Comfortable surroundings – private clinics can offer a calm, comfortable environment designed to make your experience as relaxed as possible.
At Shropshire Health, our aim is to combine these benefits with high standards of clinical care, providing a professional, personal and convenient healthcare experience.
-
Yes. All doctors and healthcare professionals at Shropshire Health are appropriately qualified, experienced and registered with their relevant professional regulatory bodies. For doctors, this includes registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
Our team members also undergo appropriate DBS checks and work within the scope of their professional qualifications, training and experience.
Many of our clinicians also work within the NHS and bring extensive experience from their respective areas of expertise.
We are committed to maintaining high professional standards and ensuring that our patients receive safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care from appropriately qualified professionals.
-
Yes. You can use both NHS and private healthcare services, and many patients choose to do so depending on their individual needs.
For example, you may choose to use Shropshire Health for a private consultation, investigation or treatment while continuing to access your usual NHS GP and other NHS services. With the NHS app we are happy to interpret your NHS blood results.
There is no ongoing commitment or membership required to use Shropshire Health. You are free to choose private healthcare when it suits your needs.
Where appropriate and with your consent, we can communicate with your NHS GP or other healthcare professionals involved in your care to support continuity and safe communication between services.
-
We want to hear about any problems, ideas or complaints that you have.

-
When choosing a Clinical appointment type, you’ll also be able to pick the duration. Other sessions will clearly state how much time is included.
A 15 minute appointment is only really suitable for one quick problem - such as a throat or chest infection.
A 30-minute appointment is advisable if you have a few symptoms or some background medical conditions.
A 45-minute appointment is advised if you’d like to go into depth about symptoms and concerns.
Please remember that your appointment time includes the time your clinician needs to complete any necessary clinical work associated with your consultation, such as writing your clinical notes, arranging referrals, completing prescriptions or requests, and processing or labelling samples where applicable.
If you are unsure which appointment length to choose, we recommend booking the longer appointment. This allows your clinician sufficient time to assess your concerns properly and provide appropriate advice and care.
-
We recommend that you arrive 10-15 - minutes before your appointment. This allows any necessary pre-checks to be done prior to the start of your consultation.
-
Yes we are lucky to have access to a very large free outdoor car park right next to the clinic.
There is also an option to enter the clinic through a side door if privacy is key.
The clinic is all on one level so is very accessible for all.
-
Yes we do. Please feel free to email or phone us to discuss your personal / client requirements.
Side entrances or alternative private waiting areas can be pre-booked.
-
To help you get the most out of your appointment, we recommend bringing a list of your regular medications, any medical conditions, and any other relevant information.
You may be able to access this information on your NHS app and can provide this information on registration if preferable.
We offer pre or post consultation review of documents or records should you wish -this can aid an appointment so the doctor is aware of your medical history or can provide you more information.
-
At present it is not possible for us to access your NHS medical records directly.
However if you download the NHS app you can access this during consultation.
-
With your consent we can send a letter to your GP about your attendance and our recommendations if a secure email address is provided.
-
Please note we do not have access to your NHS records - so if the problem is diagnosed in clinic we will be able to provide you with a sick note, but if it requires us to know further details we would request that you bring supporting documentation such as operation notes or discharge summaries- you may find supporting evidence on your NHS app.
We can only certify for upto 2 weeks.
-
Yes. For all prescriptions you have a choice of either having your medication delivered to your home address with next day delivery, or choosing to get a token sent to your mobile or email that you can use in a pharmacy of your choice to collect the prescription sooner.
All prescriptions are private - this means you pay the cost of the medication directly to the pharmacy.
-
Yes. As we do not have access to your NHS records we are unable to prescribe any controlled medications - which include Morphine, Tramadol, Fentanyl, Diazepam, Zopiclone amongst others. If you would like to check please feel free to contact us.
-
Shropshire Health makes it easy to access in-house services, including blood tests, swabs, smears, and urine samples.
If your clinician requires you to have a scan or imaging, you will be given details of where this can be done. We have access to scans nationwide, at RJAH and at Nuffield Health.
There is no obligation to take out testing with us - you may choose to go back to your GP to discuss if further with them.
-
We can do private referrals same day, sometimes in consultation if time permits.
We can refer you to the NHS urgent suspected cancer pathway should you meet their criteria.
Client Reviews
“Extremely professional from every aspect, empathetic, responsive and communication from the start was faultless, including out of hours communication. It is wonderful we know that we have your clinic to turn to when in need of help. There are many services available and other professionals to call on. Beautifully clean and welcoming with ample parking.”
“Welcoming arrival, did not feel under time pressure so I could ask as many questions as I had. Comfortable and private environment, did not feel at any point that I was going to be ‘upsold’ any tests/treatments, which you might expect at a private clinic and therefore felt trusting of Dr Jones.”
“Booking was super easy and the clinic is such a warm, welcoming and friendly place. We were greeted by Becki who was so lovely (she even kept my Aunty company who was waiting outside for us) My Mum was given a really thorough check over, which was reassuring. We were given great advice about what to do next so left feeling more at ease with a plan. Dr Jones is so kind and friendly and my Mum couldn't believe what a positive experience it was, as she's never seen a GP outside of her normal NHS practice. Thank you again for looking after Mum and we wish you all the best.”
“The clinic has been designed and fitted out to a really high standard and has a very chilled feel about it, there is a huge amount of parking available at no cost which makes it very easy to come and go.”
“Great care from Dr Jones. She is a very compassionate doctor and very knowledgeable. Love her! She listened to my problem, and gave me great solutions and care. Not at all rushed. Great front desk, and always has a smile!”
“Great first experience today at Shropshire Health. Serena was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and supportive. It's actually fantastic to have a whole range of health services that are accessible quickly. No more waiting weeks to see someone. Looking forward to seeing how this much needed business grows over 2026. Highly recommended.”
“We are thrilled to have joined as patients at this clinic. We joined on a family yearly package and also opted to have a sort of health MOT for my husband and I - with full blood tests. Everything was quick, extremely friendly and comfortable, exceptionally clean and well presented. We had plenty of time to discuss our health concerns and really quick responses over email. Whilst having any type of health concerns is never a good thing it almost felt like a treat getting to visit the clinic and feel reassured about how to feel better. Wonderful people. We will be staying on as patients for sure.”
“Dr Serena Jones has a very calm, relaxed and welcoming manner and the Doctor I saw was very much the same. I wouldn’t hesitate in using this service again and wish Dr Serena and her team all the best for a successful future with this service.”
“This was such a positive experience for me and it has encouraged me to take more control over my health and face my fears. Thank you for that, as it has been a long time coming...”
“Shropshire Health is exactly what was needed in North Shropshire, and I can't recommend Serena enough! The clinic is stunning and calming, and appointments allow time for a holistic approach. It's a whole new GP experience, with many other fantastic services attached.”
“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for taking such amazing care of my daughter. She came in for blood tests and an ECG. She has ADHD and is extremely anxious, the lovely nurse that met us in reception was simply amazing. You were both so welcoming and lovely. The service from start to finish was just brilliant! You really have created an amazing new business and we will definitely be back. You really did make something very simple and easy that could have been extremely stressful and difficult to get done via the NHS!”
“I visited Serena at the Shropshire Health Clinic she listened to me and understood my concerns. I would really recommend seeing her.”
