At Shropshire Health Clinic, we offer comprehensive men’s health and hormone assessments, helping you understand symptoms such as fatigue, low mood, reduced libido, and changes in energy or fitness.
You can currently book appointments for general health checks and male hormone blood testing, with personalised advice based on your results.
Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)
Testosterone Replacement Therapy can be beneficial for some men, but it is not without risks and requires careful assessment and ongoing monitoring. For this reason, initiation of TRT is recommended under the guidance of a Consultant Endocrinologist.
We are pleased to confirm that we have a Consultant Endocrinologist - Dr Moulik - working with our clinic, allowing us to offer a fully supported and specialist-led TRT service from June 2026.
Our two screening tests are ready to be booked, and we advise leaving at least a week between tests.
Blood tests for Testosterone should be done before 10am and ideally done fasting, with no strenuous exercise for at least 12-14 hours before.
To confirm low testosterone, two tests are required.
Prior to starting TRT it is important general health markers are checked for monitoring purposes and to ensure no other underlying problems.

You can take the 1st and 2nd blood test in any order.
First Blood test: £185 (SHR7 Total testosterone, Free testosterone, SHBG, LH / FSH, Prolactin, PSA, FBC, Ferritin, LFTs, HbA1c / lipids)
Second Blood Test: £80 (NP30= Testosterone, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin, Free Testosterone (Calculated))
Endocrinology consultation: £250 (40-minute appointment with a highly experience endocrinologist)
GP Consultation/follow ups: £65 for 15-minute consult, £125 for a 30 if complex issues.
Consultant follow up for complex cases £150.

Prescription charge: £30 for the 3-month e-prescription, or £15/m if monthly prescription. Medication cost is extra.
At Shropshire Health Clinic, we provide a private prescription so you have the flexibility to obtain your TRT medication from the pharmacy of your choice. This allows you to compare prices and source the most cost-effective option for you.
As a guide, our current electronic prescription provider, SignatureRx, charges approximately £58 per month for a supply of Testogel 40.5mg, although prices may vary and you may be able to obtain your medication at a lower cost through other pharmacies using your prescription.

This consultation is for if you would like to consider the hay fever injection.
You will have a 15 minute consultation with our GPs to ensure that it is the right line of management and that it is safe to have.
If so you can have the injection in the consultation or choose to return at a later date for it for an additional £10.

Now Available!
A New Blood test designed to screen for the presence of over 70 different Cancers.
You will have counselling with a GP first then a blood sample will be taken afterwards.
You have to be aged over 40 (or over 35 if you have a strong family history of any cancers).
This is not suitable for those who have already had cancers looking for recurrence, only for those never diagnosed with cancer. It also doesn’t replace national screening campaigns.
The results take Three weeks and we will arrange a consultation if required to discuss the results further.

We offer Coil removals, Coil fittings, implant removals or fittings in a non rushed relaxing setting.
Coils:
We do need to speak to you prior to you having the coil fitted so we have split the appointments up to:
1) Coil fit: Part 1: Pre-Fit Telephone Consultation £55. In This appointment the doctor will ensure that the procedure is right for you, that you have a prescription for the coil and will answer any questions you have as well as giving pre-procedure advice to ensure it goes as smooth as possible.
2) Coil Fit: Part 2: Procedure £195. In This appointment the coil is fitted in a relaxed environment, with the presence of a lovely chaperone to help distract you.

Western Medical Acupuncture is an adaptation of traditional Chinese acupuncture which incorporates our current understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology and evidence-based medicine.
Katrina offers longer appointments to encourage relaxation, comfort, and settling of the nervous system.
Each session is individualised, often using restorative props, aromatherapy and gentle breathing exercises. Electroacupuncture is also offered.
In Electroacupuncture the needles are connected to a device which transmits a mild electrical current. This increases the intensity of the treatment and may be useful in more stubborn conditions such as osteoarthritis of the knees.

Dr Jayesh Makan - Consultant Cardiologist

Dr Jayesh Makan is a leading Consultant Cardiologist held in high regards by both patients and colleagues, based in Shrewsbury, well known for having excellent communication skills putting everyone at ease.
He diagnoses and treats patients with chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, heart rhythm disturbances and blackouts. He has developed a special interest in Sports Cardiology and has recently been awarded an MSc in the subject, having been awarded a full scholarship by St George’s Hospital, University of London.
Dr Makan works for the NHS, Nuffield Health and now we are lucky enough to be offering appointments from here at Shropshire Health. Dr Makan has also been appointed as an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at St George’s Hospital, London.
Dr Makan trained at Guy's and St Thomas' qualifying with MBBS and a BSc (Hons) in Immunology. His specialist training in cardiology was in London and he spent three years as a Specialist Registrar at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust. He developed an expertise in pacemaker, defibrillator and biventricular pacemaker implantation and is a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist with the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners.
Dr Makan joined Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust as a Consultant in 2011 and set up a brand new complex cardiac device service for Shropshire. He was appointed as the Clinical Director of Cardiology in 2013 and led the department for nearly ten years, before taking up a role as Undergraduate Tutor for Keele University Medical School. He was recently recognised as a Covid-19 Hero at the Trust for his work during the pandemic.
Dr Makan is active in clinical academia. Between 2003 and 2005, he undertook research with Professor Sanjay Sharma, who is a world leader in Sports Cardiology and Inherited Cardiac Disease. His research was funded by the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and he was honoured to be appointed a Trustee of the charity in 2018. He is a keen athlete and runner and completed the London Marathon for Greenwich Hospice in 2000 and for CRY in 2022.
His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, he has authored book chapters and presented at international meetings. He is a member of a number of professional organisations, including the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners, the European Heart Rhythm Association and he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.

Dr Laura Bangs is a highly regarded Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, known for her thoughtful and meticulous approach to Women’s Health. She joins Shropshire Health as a trusted specialist with nearly two decades of clinical experience, offering a level of care defined by precision, depth of knowledge and quiet excellence.
After graduating from the University of Manchester, Dr Bangs completed comprehensive specialist training in the West Midlands before achieving membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2016. She went on to undertake advanced training in Labour Ward Management and Obstetric Medicine, reflecting her expertise in both routine and medically complex care.
Her career includes contributions to peer-reviewed research, national and international presentations, and the development of clinical guidelines that have shaped patient care within maternity services. Additionally, she is one of only a handful of consultants trained in hypnobirthing and birth trauma support, further informing her calm, considered and holistic style of practice.
Following a fulfilling career within the NHS, Dr Bangs now works exclusively in the private sector, where she offers a more personalised and unhurried approach. Her consultations are characterised by discretion, clarity and an unwavering commitment to patient wellbeing.

Her approach combines psychological depth with warmth, insight, and genuine human connection. Clients often seek her support during periods of change, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, loss, anxiety, or when they feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them.
Grounded in person-centred counselling, Anna-Claire offers a thoughtful and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship where clients are supported to better understand themselves, navigate difficult experiences, and move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and self-trust.
Alongside her Master’s degree in Counselling and clinical work, Anna-Claire holds a PhD exploring psychoanalytic perspectives on identity formation, gender development, relational dynamics, and the therapeutic applications of literature. Her wider training includes hypnotherapy, mindfulness-based approaches, Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®), Reiki, and Chakradance™.

Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®) is a solution-oriented ‘hybrid’ therapy designed to help identify and shift limiting beliefs, emotional patterns, and subconscious blocks.
Drawing on techniques based in hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and neuroplasticity, RTT® works at a deeper subconscious level to target and transform the root cause of issues in order to create meaningful, lasting change.
Unlike longer-term talking therapies, RTT® is designed as a more fast-paced intervention. It is often well suited to people who are motivated to create change, ready to work actively with the process, and prefer a more focused therapeutic approach.
RTT® may be helpful for:

Reiki is a non-invasive Japanese energy therapy used to support relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional wellbeing. As a complementary therapy, it is designed to work alongside conventional medical care and other therapeutic approaches.
Using gentle touch, Reiki aims to calm the nervous system, reduce emotional and physical tension, and support the body’s natural healing response. Sessions are restorative, individually tailored, and offered with clients fully clothed.
Reiki may be supportive for people experiencing:

Chakradance™ is a movement-based therapy modality that combines Jungian psychology, the chakra system, free-form movement, chakra-resonant music, guided visualisation, and mandala art to support emotional wellbeing and self-discovery.
The practice is designed to help release emotional patterns and blocked energy held within the body, supporting greater emotional freedom, authenticity, creativity, and connection to self.
Each workshop works with a different chakra and offers a gentle, non-performative approach to healing through movement, music, and creative expression. No dance experience is needed, and all workshops are designed to feel accessible, supportive, and emotionally safe.
People often come to Chakradance™ to reduce stress, reconnect with themselves, process emotions, and cultivate a greater sense of balance and wellbeing.
